    Why do people say Febuary?

The spelling has two R sounds close together: Feb-R-u-a-R-y. Saying R twice in a row is hard, so many speakers turn the first R into a Y sound: FEB-yoo-air-ee. The result also sounds like January, which really has a Y.

This form is very common, especially in American English. Cambridge and Oxford list only the form with R, so that is the one we show first. Both are understood everywhere.

The spelling itself was a choice. Middle English had a form taken from Old French feverier, with no R after the B. Writers later went back to the Latin name Februarius, and the R after B came with it.

If you want the dictionary form, say FEB, then roo with a light R, then the rest.
